Larry Suffredin Endorses Laura Fine for Congress
Former Cook County Commissioner and Committeeman of the Democratic Party of Evanston cites Fine’s deep commitment to the community
EVANSTON, IL – Laura Fine for Congress issued the following statement from former Cook County Commissioner and former Committeeman of the Evanston Democratic Party, Larry Suffredin:
"Today, I am honored to announce my support for Laura Fine for Congress, as I believe she is the best candidate to succeed Jan Schakowsky and represent our community in Washington, DC. Laura is a skilled lawmaker who will make the next Congress an actual “Check and Balance” on President Trump’s abuse of Executive power.
"Evanston needs someone like Laura now more than ever. Our diverse community is under attack by the Trump administration, and our schools are struggling due to the silence and failures of current local leadership. Laura understands what needs to be done and is not afraid to stand up for her community, no matter how difficult the battle might be.
"Laura is exactly the type of person that we need: selfless, humble, and never afraid to take on the most difficult fights. Her initial run for office was fueled by her need to take on the insurance industry when they unjustly canceled her family’s coverage following her husband’s nearly fatal car accident. She held her family together during that incredibly difficult time and ultimately worked to change the laws to protect other families from similar hardship. Since then, she has made it her mission to consistently fight for our community over special interests.
"During the height of the COVID pandemic I met with Laura weekly to ensure our community had the complete resources to survive. I saw firsthand her determination to protect those in need. Her extensive experience as a dedicated lawmaker and fierce advocate for those in need is why I know she is the best choice to represent us in Congress."
